Flag Day Ceremony

Posted

A Flag Day ceremony was held Sunday June 13 at the Walterboro Elks Lodge. Mr. Bob Tiegs was the MC, and Boy Scout Troop #646 assisted with the ceremony. Flag Day is officially June 14, and is celebrated to

commemorate the anniversary of the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States. It was adopted by the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. The colors are symbolic: white signifies purity and innocence; red, hardiness and valor; and blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
