Five Colleton County residents, including two children, were seriously injured in a Saturday car crash.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Sidneys Road and Round O Road at about 10:50 a.m. on April 16th when a Nissan Altima collided with a Dodge Pickup truck. According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy, four ambulances were sent to the crash scene. Three adults and two children were injured: a 13-year-old boy suffered a head injury and the unrestrained adult male driver of the Nissan received “multiple traumatic injuries,” said McRoy.

The two children were taken to MUSC’s Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston. Their father was also taken to the MUSC adult trauma center. The additional crash victims were transported to Trident Medical Center in North Charleston and to Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

McRoy said the intersection where the crash occurred was closed to traffic for nearly one hour.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
