Fishburne Appointed to the Ports Authority Board

Barnwell Fishburne represented Colleton County and the Sixth Congressional District on the South Carolina Department of Transportation Highway Commission for the past seven years. The board accomplishment many projects during that time as evidenced by the number of bridge replacements, road safety projects, and interstate widening throughout the state. Fishburne had six months left on his term and was asked to serve on the board of the South Carolina Ports Authority. Fishburne has elected to step down, as state law prohibits holding dual offices, to take on the new position at the State Ports Authority. Fishburne says, “South Carolina is experiencing extraordinary economic growth, projections for the future are nothing short of mind blowing. The ports s authority recognizes this and has made a very substantial and strategic investments for the future with continued development of port facilities. I’m very much looking forward to participating on the board and assisting the economic success of South Carolina.”
