First Thursday’s “Friends Giving” event stretched the full length of E. Washington Street downtown with shopping, food, music, art and culture to offer to those who visited.

The local singer-songwriter, Jason Lee Cook, was the special featured guest musician for the evening. He turned up the tunes on his guitar and performed in the street near the waterfall. Local musician Bruce Standiford rocked his guitar and musician David Nay brought some smooth jazzy tones from his saxophone from inside local businesses.

The local merchants stayed open late, offering special sales, new items, gift cards, and more. Businesses exhibited a fall festive look through decorations while some offered additional appetizers and drinks to anyone who stopped by.

The restaurants were open for dining or carry-out and food trucks offered a variety of food choices as well. There were pop-up vendors offering a wide array of selections for the interested shopper. There was also a small bounce house and an artist offering face painting for families. A local artist, Lisa Lane, encouraged the young and old to help her paint a portrait of Loretta Lynn while other artists and crafters offered their wares for sale.

The merchants and everyone that participated are excited and thankful for the support the community has shown and are looking forward to seeing everyone next month. The next event will be on December 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
