Fighting on the Wrong Battlefield!

Posted

I have a question today for all of you: Have you ever been so ready to fight… but realized you were swinging in the wrong direction? You’ve got your armor on, your Scripture loaded, your prayer life charged, and you show up to the battlefield… only to discover you’re fighting the wrong battle. Well, let’s take a look at it: “Fighting on the Wrong Battlefield!”

Some of us give our best energy, best time, and best prayers to fights that God never told us to enter. We’re throwing spiritual punches at people, problems, and pettiness that don’t deserve the sweat off our brow. We’re in the kitchen arguing over the thermostat while the real battle is in our prayer closets. We’re going toe-to-toe with our coworkers when the real fight is against the spirit of discouragement that’s trying to keep us from our purpose.

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) reminds us: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The spiritual battle that believers face is not against human beings, but against unseen, spiritual forces of evil. In other words, you’re not supposed to be shadowboxing your cousin on Facebook. The devil loves when we fight each other.

Some of us are fighting battles God has already won. You’re still swinging at that past mistake. It’s like showing up to a battlefield where the victory flag’s already been planted, and you’re out there trying to sword fight a memory. Other times, we’re fighting because of pride. Let’s be real. Some of us don’t want peace; we want the last word. However, the last word won’t heal your heart, nor will it restore your joy. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is walk away, and let God handle it.

Sometimes, the greatest spiritual discipline is discernment, knowing what’s worth your fight and what’s not. Every hill is not Calvary. Every offense is not a war. Every hater is not your assignment. You’ve only got so much strength. So why waste it battling battles that won’t bless you? Instead, fight the right fight: Fight for your faith. Fight for your family. Fight for your peace. Fight on your knees. Fight with praise. Fight with love. Fight with wisdom. Therefore, let the Lord handle the rest. So the next time you feel ready to fight, check your location. You might just be on the wrong battlefield. Always abound in the faith, and never leave home without Him!
