The Colleton Future Farmers of America (FFA)held its annual Plant sale on Saturday, April 10, at the Cougar New Tech facilities on Thunderbolt Road.
The sale began at 8:00 a.m. with people already lined up in cars to shop for plants.
Last year, the students were able to sell plants at their annual sale, but the process had to be changed due to COVID-19.
The sales process continued to be a little different since masks and social distancing were required.
Only five shoppers at a time were allowed into the plant sale, and as one person finished shopping, another person was allowed into the sale.
The sale is a big boost to the finances of the FFA student organization and for those students interested in agriculture and leadership.
According to Robin Lutton, a teacher who coordinates the sale, the proceeds from the plant sale go back into the program. The students are able to travel throughout the year to different contests across the state, and to either attend the State FFA Convention held at Clemson University during June or the Sunbelt Ag Expo in South Georgia.
The money also goes to help supply local projects within the agriculture program such as expanding animal pens, purchasing materials for animals and buying student project supplies.
