"Feed Your Faith and Starve Your Doubts!"

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:6-8 ESV)

Do you ever go to God in prayer and are doubting the entire time you are praying? Have you ever felt that God has forsaken you and will not deliver? Has God ever directed you down one path, but you chose another on your own? When you do that, you are feeding your doubts and starving your faith! Matthew 21:22 (ESV) confirms, “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” The key word in this verse is “if.” There is no need to ask God for anything if you already have doubts about what He will do.

What is the difference between faith and doubt?

“Faith is a firm, cordial belief in the veracity of God, in all the declarations of his word; or a full and affectionate confidence in the certainty of those things which God has declared, and because he has declared them.

Doubt is a fluctuation of mind respecting truth or propriety, arising from defect of knowledge or evidence; uncertainty of mind; suspense; unsettled state of opinion,” (King James Online Dictionary.) Key words in these definitions are “certainty” and “uncertainty.”

In the Gospel of Matthew 5 (ESV), Jesus said about oaths, “You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn,” (33). Further, He closed this discussion, “Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil,” (37). Therefore, are you living in faith, or are you holding onto doubt? Don’t live in the presence of the enemy but in the presence of the Lord. The enemy is a liar, and the truth will never be in him. So why would you listen to a liar? Your everyday living will improve when you start to feed your faith, and starve your doubts.

Have a wonderfully blessed week, be thankful in all circumstances, and never leave home without Him!
