A 16-year-old was fatally injured in a Phillips Road accident Wednesday, October 23rd. The Chrysler 300 was traveling south on Phillips Road when it left the roadway after a curve. The car over-corrected and entered the ditch where it struck a tree and overturned. The female driver was wearing a seatbelt, but suffered multiple traumatic injuries. She was trapped in the wreckage. Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics arrived quickly from nearby Station # 19 and extricated the patient who had no signs of life. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
