Family, friends and neighbors gathered at the Ray T. Johnson/CTS building to celebrate the 90th birthday for Mrs. Geneva Rhodes Taylor on Saturday Jan. 25, 2020.
Among the many guests were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and dozens of those whom she cared for in her 40-year home daycare business.
The birthday theme was “Hats Off to Mrs. Geneva Taylor.”
Activities included singing, history lessons, games and prizes, great food and fellowship with those who she had not seen in many years.
“Mrs. Geneva,” as she is affectionately called, has lived in Colleton County her entire life. She is well-known as a gospel singer and the leader of the ‘Taylor Gospel Singers.” She was an excellent cook and was employed for 13 years as the manager of the Piggly Wiggly deli until 1979.
Mrs. Taylor acknowledges that “Every good and perfect gift comes from above” and her long life has been blessed abundantly.
As a child, she never imagined that she would be honored in such a beautiful way as on this occasion, she said.
She expressed gratitude to all who came to celebrate “90 Years of Love.”
Everyone wished her many, many more years to come!
