Brice Herndon Funeral Chapels and Crematory

Mrs. Emma Jean Hiott, 76, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, October 9, 2021 at her residence.

Born September 15, 1945 in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Scott Pellum and Cora Lee Garvin Pellum.  After losing her parents at a very young age, she was raised by Ashley and Georgia Mae Pellum.   For many years she owned and operated Emma’s Beauty Shop.  Anyone who knew Mrs. Emma, knew that she loved cooking and baking, and was excellent at both.  Preparing food and doing anything she could for others was her top priority.  She dearly loved her family and took pride in being a homemaker and taking care of them.  She was extremely proud of her boys and their accomplishments and enjoyed supporting her family by attending their events at CPA regularly.

Emma was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church, always serving in anything that needed to be done.  She especially loved helping with Vacation Bible School.  She was a former pianist at Green Pond Baptist Church.  She enjoyed spending time at their second home in Myrtle Beach, tailgaiting at the University of South Carolina Williams-Brice Stadium, fishing, going to the Walterboro Elks Lodge and playing Bingo.

Surviving are: her husband of 56 years, Bobby Lewis Hiott of Walterboro; sons, Scott Hiott and his wife Tamara and Brandon Hiott and his wife Samantha, all of Walterboro; grandchildren, Sadie Hiott, Emma Victoria “Evie” Hiott, and Maddie Jean Hiott; brother, Elmer Gene Pellum of Walterboro; and a sister, Vivian P. Baker of Walterboro.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mickie Douglas, Harry Scott Pellum, Eugene Pellum, and Jimmy Pellum.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock, Wednesday morning, October 13, 2021, from Great Swamp Baptist Church, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 am Wednesday until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
