Mrs. Emily Wolfe Carter, 83, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday morning, December 16, 2021, at Summerville Community Hospice.  She was the wife of the late Mr. Myles Rudolph “Rudy” Carter whom she was married to for sixty years at the time of his death in 2020.

Born September 15, 1938, in Reevesville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Herman Wolfe and the late Vernelle Hartzog Wolfe Smoak.  She worked for the Colleton County School District where she retired as a Food Service Manage after many years of service having primarily worked at Hampton Street Elementary and Black Street Elementary.  She was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church where she was always active and always faithful and had participated in the Women’s Missionary Union.    She enjoyed crafts and was talented with needle point.  She also dearly loved hummingbirds. 

Surviving are: a son, Terry Carter and his wife Janice of Walterboro; two daughters, Rose Carter Hiers and her husband Glen of Walterboro and Peggy Carter Beach and her husband Anthony of Ruffin; a brother, Carlisle Wolfe of Saint George; a sister, Mary Wolfe Carter of Walterboro; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.  

Flowers will be accepted, or for that wish, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Great Swamp Baptist Church Building Fund, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, December 20, 2021, from Great Swamp Baptist Church, 3396 Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.   The Reverend Jack Padgett officiating.   Interment will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 o’clock that afternoon in the church sanctuary.
