Donna McMillan has made a new plan for her life since retiring. She has decided to open a wedding and event venue and rental service. Situated in the former Olde Depot building in Lodge, McMillan’s new business, Southern Elegance, held its grand opening on Friday, Feb. 26th.

“I am so excited, but nervous,” said McMillan, at the ribbon cutting ceremony. “Everything has gone so well in preparing for this grand opening. People turned out and the feedback we received was wonderful and so positive.”

“We have rental items to complete any special day like weddings, baby showers, family reunions or parties,” said McMillan. “We have everything you could possibly need. We are almost fully booked for the summer and fall, but we do have a few openings.

“Right now, we are booking for summer 2022,” she said.

Future bride Jordan Steinmeyer is planning her upcoming wedding to Jeremy Crosby with the help of Southern Elegance. Steinmeyer’s wedding is slated for June 19.

At the Southern Elegance grand opening, Steinmeyer was using the opportunity to walk around and pick out what she wanted to use in her wedding. The showroom was full of beautiful items she could choose from.

“I am excited about my wedding and the chance to look around and pick out what I want,” she said.

In creating the venue space, McMillan tried to think of everything that anyone could possibly want at any special occasion and include it in her rental assortment. She has candles, lanterns, pews, benches, a large cross, tables, three different types of chairs, chargers, dishes, multiple styles of bars, barrels, signs, dinner ware, stem ware, flowers, sofas, armchairs and more.

Southern Elegance Event Rentals is located at 21120 Bells Hwy. in Lodge, S.C.

More information on the venue can be found on the business’s Facebook page.
