Edisto Beach spared as Isaias stays offshore

Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina late Monday August 3 as a Category 1 hurricane according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Maximum sustained winds were 85 mph.
Colleton County and Edisto Beach were spared significant impact as the then tropical storm passed well east of the coastline. Colleton County was operating under OPCON 2 ahead of the storm, but no evacuation orders were in place.
According to an update from the Town of Edisto Beach, no damage was reported following the storm. Approximately 3” of rainfall was recorded on the beach, along with a dune breaching around the 100 block. Garbage pickup with scheduled to resume Tuesday.
Dominion Energy South Carolina had only 13 reported outages Tuesday morning across the state. According to Dominion, crews from Alabama, Florida, Missouri and Arkansas were standing by Monday at a staging area to help with storm response. With minimal coastal impact, the approximate 150 line-workers were scheduled to leave to help restore power in neighboring states.
