The White Hall Chapter No. 132 of the Eastern Star held a Mother’s Day drive thru brunch for ‘The Golden Divas’ on Saturday, May 8.

At 11:00 a.m., Eastern Star members recognized the senior members of their chapter. Maggie Magwood, who will be 100 years old in September, was first in line for her meal that was prepared and packaged at Saints Center Ministry for a take home brunch.

The group also honored their senior Golden Divas: Isabell Lucas, 91; Virginia Manigo, 86; Mable McTeer, 92; Shirley Brown, 86; Maggie Magwood, 99; Virginia Manigo; and Pearl Richards.

“This is my first year as the Worthy Matron, and I wanted to honor our ‘Golden Divas,’” said Bernice Magwood. “I feel so honored to be their Worthy Matron, but I am even more honored to stand on their shoulders within this beautiful organization of stardom. I am appreciative of all the knowledge and wisdom they bring to the table.

“I wanted to do something different that has never been done by our Chapter so I thought what better way to honor them than on Mother’s Day with a drive through brunch and present them with pamper baskets filled with lots of love,” she said. “I truly love all of my Eastern Star Chapter members with all my heart.”

The Golden Divas had pictures made, and were chauffeured to tables where they received take home plates of food. Then, the ladies were presented with gift baskets containing hand sanitizer, an Eastern Star t-shirt, an umbrella (Chapter name/logo), spa and personal hygiene products, small gifts and a Bible.

Maggie Magwood said she was happy to be there.

“This is wonderful,” said Magwood. She also stated that she was preparing for her 100th birthday in September. “I am blessed to have lived this long. I thank God for blessing me this way,” she added.
