Dr. Francis Burns Named South Carolina Academy of Science Two-Year Institution Faculty of the Year

South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS) has selected Dr. Francis Burns as the recipient of the Two-Year Institution Faculty of the Year Award. This award recognizes exemplary teaching at two-year institutions of higher education throughout South Carolina.

This award recognizes Dr. Burns for his dedication to student success, innovative teaching methods, and commitment to fostering a passion for science among his students. His ability to make complex concepts accessible and his engaging classroom presence have earned him the respect and admiration of both students and colleagues.

“Dr. Burns is an exceptional educator who consistently goes above and beyond to ensure his students not only understand the material but also develop a genuine appreciation for science,” said April Cone, dean of USC Salkehatchie. “His passion for teaching is infectious, and he has a remarkable ability to connect with students and inspire them to pursue their academic goals. We are incredibly proud to have Dr. Burns as a member of our faculty.”

The SCAS Two-Year Institution Faculty of the Year Award highlights the crucial role that faculty at these institutions play in shaping the future of science education in the state. Dr. Burns will be honored at the SCAS Councilors Dinner for awardees on April 4 and will be formally recognized at the SCAS awards ceremony on April 5.
