 Doug H. Wright, husband of Jane Ryan Wright, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at his residence, under the care of Agape Hospice. He was 79. 

Doug was born October 12, 1940 in Augusta, GA, a son of the late Harold L. Wright and Dorothy Reed Wright.  He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he received  his degree in electrical engineering. He retired after thirty-five years of service with South Carolina Electric and Gas in the engineering and planning department. He was a member of St. Jude’s Church, where he served on the Vestry, the finance committee, the food pantry, and was a Junior Warden.

Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.  He loved golf and traveling in the mountains, and was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks.  

In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his children:  Allen Adkins, Doug Wright Jr. (Kim), Amy Hutto, Rhonda O’Quinn (Tim), Ronnie Stroble (Connie), and Kim Carter (Jamie).

There are sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  He has one sister, Fay Cook, a sister-in-law Connie Wright, and two nephews, Randy and Ashley Wright.  Doug was preceded in death by his first wife Katharine Martin Wright, by his brother Paul Wright, by a great-granddaughter Molly Swanner, by two sons-in-law Bill Adkins and Mich Hutto, and by a brother-in-law Raymond Cook.  

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2020 at 1:00 at the Grace Advent Christian Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Memorial Garden Fund, 907 Wichman Street, Walterboro, SC  29488.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
