Mrs. Dorothy Ramsey, a longtime resident of Hendersonville and Walterboro, went home to be with Jesus on April 18, 2021 at the age of 90. She passed peacefully surrounded by family.
She will be forever cherished and remembered by her children: Carol “Lindy” McCray Cooke of St. Augustine Florida, Raymond Roger Ramsey Jr. (Bonnie) of Ritter, Kathy Drawdy (Jack) of Walterboro, Stacy Brink Price (Corky) of Walterboro, Wister Ard of Hinesville, Ga, and David Ard (Christina) of Walterboro. She was a beloved “Nanny” to seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also loved by many others that she spent a lifetime giving to and caring for.
Mrs. Ramsey is preceded in death by the love of her life, Raymond Ramsey, Sr., by a grandaughter Angie Drawdy, and by three sisters and two brothers.
Her life’s passion was children. She was a devoted member of Hendersonville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School to children for most of her adult life. She was a giver who delighted in preparing massive meals for friends and family. Her last words were the words that she used every day of her life, “I love you”.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to her nurses Amber Kleck and Ericka Johnson, as well as to Amedysis Home Health and Agape Hospice for the care given to Mrs. Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendersonville Baptist Church, 893 Bachelor Hill Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
Interment will be at the Beaufort National Cemetery. Due to covid restrictions, services are limited to immediate family only.
