WALTERBORO:     Mr. David Franklin DeWitt, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Frank”, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, March 3, 2025 at his home after a brief illness.  He was 79. Frank was born in Walterboro October 25, 1945 a son of the late Columbus DeWitt Sr. and the late Valisha Walling DeWitt.  He was a proud graduate of Walterboro High School…class of 1965.  Frank worked  as a grader and Senior Main Foreman for the South Carolina Highway Department and eventually retired after thirty years of dedicated service.  He loved doing anything involving being outdoors, especially fishing and working in his yard, and he was known as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.   Frank is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Carolyn Owens DeWitt.  He leaves behind his children Jerry Headley and Debra Seigler (Steve).  There are four grandchildren:  Scott Headley Jr., Parker Headley (Ellie), Joshua Headley, and Stephen Seigler Jr. (Jennifer).  Frank is also survived by four great-grandchildren,  Alexandra Seigler and Anne Marie, Kohen and Karsyn Headley, as well as by his siblings, Columbus DeWitt Jr. (Bridgett), Leroy “Roy” DeWitt (Lisa), and Patricia DeWitt Smith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Michael Headley and Charles Scott “Chuck” Headley Sr. Graveside services will be held Thursday morning, March 6, 2025 at 11:00 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
