DayTrippin' - Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum

The Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights Va. was an unexpected surprise. The museum is located just off I-95 and is an easy trip to check out the collection. We actually took AMTRAK to Petersburg Va. to pick up a vehicle and Colonial Heights is a neighboring City. The museum is enormous 125,000 square feet with over 200 vehicles. You begin your tour with an entire area of immaculately restored tractors in rows separated by manufacturers. They even had lawn mowers, snow blowers, and snow mobiles with the farm equipment on display. This area also had toy trucks on display as well a huge collection of Diecast Vehicles. The antique gas pumps were unique and automobile signage is spread throughout the museum. There were three other warehouses all linked together that had everything from tractor trailers from the 40’s 50’s and 60’s. They have vintage fire trucks including a light truck and a truck that has been converted into at Coca Cola Soda Fountain Truck and a beautifully restored Fire Chiefs Car. There are vintage wreckers and a very unique RC Cola truck. They also have a small vehicle display with vintage cars as well. One of the more interesting vehicles is a 1925 Thermos Mobile a vehicle used for marketing. Again, all exhibits were immaculately restored with very good descriptions on them. This is a private collection and the owner is occasionally at the museum speaking with people touring the museum.

They actively restore vehicles and you can view projects undergoing restoration through viewing windows in the display areas.

The museum also has a diner, the Keystone Grill, open for breakfast and lunch. As you enter the museum you are greeted by a vintage Big Boy and surrounded by 50’s diner decorations. A nice view of the tractor area is available from the booths.

The Museum also has numerous events during the year including Cars Shows and Model Train Shows and is located about 30 minutes south of Richmond VA.
