Mrs. Dawn Floyd Johns, age 55, of Smoaks, entered into rest Sunday afternoon, March 22, 2020, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston.

Born May 22, 1964, in Maryville, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Bill Floyd and the late Jo Cole Floyd. After making the Lowcountry of South Carolina her home, she received her medical degree from Orangeburg Technical College and worked a long and dedicated career with Dr. William O’Quinn in Branchville.  She was a member of Smoaks Baptist Church where she was active in many aspects of the church’s work.  Mrs. Dawn was a lady in every sense.  She always possessed a positive outlook on life with a smile on her face.  Her strong faith and positive attitude touched every person she came into contact with.  She centered her life around her family, dearly loving her grandchildren and her pups, Rocco and Waylon. 

Surviving are: her husband of thirty-five years, Mr. David L. Johns; two children, Christopher David Johns of Smoaks and Ericka Cole Evans and her husband Tyler of Summerville; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Kate Johns and Holly Roxanne Evans.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions in her memory to: Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Post Office Box 101, Smoaks, South Carolina 29481.

In consideration of the extraordinary circumstances associated with the Coronavirus, the family will hold a private graveside funeral service for Mrs. Dawn in the Smoaks Baptist Churchyard. A celebration of her life for the public will be held at a later date that will be announced once the current situation subsides.
