The Colleton County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented its Good Citizenship Awards to two Colleton County Students on Saturday March 15th at is meeting. The awards went to Jamille Collins and Anne Hatcher White.
Collins is the son of Alice Collins and Kevin Simmons, He is a dual enrollment student at the Thunderbolt Career and Technology Center, a member of Future Farmers of America, and volunteers in the Colleton County High School Guidance Office. He also Volunteers for the Special Olympics and is a member of the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Program. Collins plan to attend Spartanburg Methodist College, major in criminal justice, and hopes to return to Colleton County as a Law Enforcement Officer.
Anne Hatcher White attends Colleton Prep and is the daughter of Josh and Rebekah White. She is an officer in the National Honor Society, a delegate to Palmetto Girls State, a multisport athlete participating in tennis, cheer, basketball, and soccer. She is also the President of the Student Body and President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. White is also a Rice Festival Rice Planter, a First Steps volunteer and volunteer for the 1st Baptist Church Vacation Bible School. She plans to attend Clemson University majoring in marketing.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism across the United States. Since the Society’s founding, more than one million women have found purpose and passion in DAR membership.
