A person was killed about 6 p.m. on June 3 after a motorcycle wreck.

The driver of a motorcycle ran off the road and struck a ditch while traveling on Bomar Lane in Walterboro, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The man was not wearing a helmet.

The man was traveling eastbound on Bomar Lane when he failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into the ditch. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle.

Firefighter-paramedics arrived within minutes from Fire-Rescue Station #1 located two blocks away. They found the man unconscious in the ditch. He was quickly treated at the scene and a medical helicopter was placed on standby; however, the helicopter was canceled when the man went into cardiac arrest.

Crews began resuscitative efforts which were continued enroute to Colleton Medical Center. The emergency department continued the efforts, but Casey Lawrence Henderson, 33, of Walterboro unfortunately did not survive his injuries.
