Eliza Cummings affectionately known as “Lolly” transitioned from this life to eternal rest on November 11,2024 at her home in Augusta, Ga. She was born April 29,1931 to the late Claudia Johnson and Georgia Durant. She joined Target AME at an early age. Eliza married Morris Cummings and thru this union four Children were born. John Morris, Jessie and Hattie. The family moved to New York City. Eliza later met Isaiah Brown and to this union two children were born Geneatha and Marty. Eliza joined Macedonia Baptist Church later named Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church where she was a charter member. She served faithfully in several positions in the church over the years. She loved to sing and some would say she had the voice of an angel. Eliza worked as a dietitian at Kings County Hospital. Upon her retiring she became a foster parent sharing her love and creating a stable home. In 2014, leaving New York she came back south moving to Walterboro, SC and in 2015 moved to Augusta, GA into St. Johns Towers. She enjoyed the activities, especially church and playing bingo. She touched many and was loved by many of the residents there. She also joined Thankful Baptist Church attending until her health failed her. Eliza loved her family and friends. She was loving and kind yet stern and strict. Full of wisdom and ready to support you if she could. Eliza had a giving heart and lived a full life. She loved to cook. She made the fluffiest biscuits, collard greens and jelly cakes. Her collards were most asked for by family and friends. Eliza was predeceased by Morris Cummings(husband), John and Morris (sons), Hattie (daughter), Isaish Brown and Marty (son), two grand-children LaVonda and Marty, a great-grand- Shemar, two brothers-Emmanuel and Henry, two sisters- Rosa Lee and Georgia. Left to cherish her memories: Two daughters- Jessie (Tyrone) of Jacksonville, Florida, Geneatha (Clinton) of Walterboro, SC. Daughter -In-Law Patricia of Augusta GA. Two Sister-In-Laws Patricia Flora Dell (Holly Hill, SC) and Vernell Butler (Denton, Maryland). Her legacy will live on thru fourteen grands, twenty-eight great grands and a host of nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly. She will be missed but forever remembered.
