Mrs. Linda J. Crosby, 77, of the Chessey Creek Community near Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2025, at Lowcountry Community Hospice in Summerville. She was the loving wife of fifty-two years to the late Mr. Elwood Kirby “Woody” Crosby.
Born February 21, 1948, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she was the only child of the late Charles E. Gross and Grace Sparks Krivos. She was a retired office manager from Charleston Plastic Surgery. Linda was a devoted member of Jacksonboro Baptist Church, where she was faithful and active in many aspects of the church’s work and was affectionately known as the “Candy Lady”. At her church, she was always present and always willing to serve. She worked diligently in the social hall preparing for countless church functions and always ensured the floral arrangements were fresh and appropriate for the occasion. Floral arranging was her most favorite pastime.
She was always active and on the go. She was a member of the Daughters of The Nile and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Walterboro Lodge, No. 1988. She was an avid supporter of the Omar Shrine Temple and worked tirelessly alongside her husband in his work to the Shrine as he served as Chief Aid to four Potentates. She, also like her late husband, possessed an avid admiration for the outdoors and fishing. Their home at Bonnie Doone was precious to her along with the time spent there with her family and at the countless cookouts they hosted.
Surviving are: her daughter, Sonya Crosby Floyd and her husband Mike of Walterboro; two grandchildren, William Kirby “Will” Floyd and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Floyd; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Crosby Floyd; and a nephew, Jamie Allen Floyd. She is also survived by her beloved lab, “Queenie” and cat, “Princess”. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jimmie Allen Floyd.
The family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to the following: Jacksonboro Baptist Church, Post Office Box 129, Jacksonboro, South Carolina 29452; or to, Omar Shrine, 176 Patriots Point Road, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina 29464.
