Colleton deputy threatened during school fight

A local deputy’s life was threatened by a Colleton County student during a recent brawl.
According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers were called to Colleton County High School on August 26th to a student fight. When a deputy arrived, he learned that two(male) students were arguing over a female student. That argument turned into a physical fight that was happening inside the school. While trying to separate the two students, one of the teens threatened the deputy’s life. This case is under investigation. If charged, the student faces an offense of threatening the life of a public official.

Gun found in rental car
A gun was found inside a rental car that Enterprise Rental. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies were called to Enterprise on August 29th when an employee found a Glock Gen firearm inside the car. The gun came back clear, meaning it had not been stolen. The gun was returned to the owner. No charges were pressed.
Argument leads to cell phone thefts
Law enforcement officers were called to a Colleton County house last week when a woman and her boyfriend got into an argument. According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the two were arguing about another man sending the girl messages on Facebook. This resulted in the couple arguing. The man then allegedly snatched two cell phones from the woman and ran out of the residence. The woman could not chase the boyfriend to get her phones back because she is wearing an ankle monitor and is on house-arrest for an unrelated incident, the report states. The woman told authorities that she only wants her phones back from the man and will not press any other charges. This has been filed as a case of petit larceny.
Brazen thief steals from local store
Officers were called to a gas station in Walterboro last week to a reported shoplifter. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the unknown thief stole a can of Peanut Patch boiled peanuts, valued at $3.99. He also took a pair of sunglasses and a cell phone charger. A store clerk saw the man putting the items in his jacket, as he attempted to steal them. When the man was approached by that store clerk, the man paid for a drink and pack of cigarettes, but still left the store with the stolen items. Security camera footage has been reviewed and this case is under investigation.
Angry ex smashes windshield
A woman is accused of damaging her ex-boyfriends’ Mercedes vehicle. According to a Colleton County Sheriffs’ Office incident report, law enforcement officers were called to Hangtime Bar on Rivers Street in Walterboro on August 27th. The male victim told authorities that the suspect is his ex-girlfriend. The victim said the woman became angry at him for not tipping her as much as he tipped other waitresses. She threw a drink in his face, the report states. The woman then allegedly smashed the windshield of his car. Security officers at the bar witnessed the incident. This case is under investigation.
