Student makes threats on Snap Chat

Law enforcement officers were called to Colleton County High School on Sept. 21st to a report of a student making harmful threats. According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, a student used a social media app (Snap Chat) on his/her cell phone to make threats against another student. This case is being investigated. As of press deadline, there were no arrests and no updates to this case. It is unclear what type of threats were made.

Weapon reported at middle school

A deputy at Colleton County Middle School was notified last week that another student had a weapon on school property. According to an incident report filed with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was made aware of the weapon being on school grounds on Sept. 21st. The report states that the weapon was a knife, and that a juvenile was involved. However, the report also does not state if an actual weapon was found on school grounds.

Litterer tosses trash in front of court office

A Colleton County resident was caught littering last week in front of a county magistrate’s office. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a sheriff’s deputy caught the suspect littering while standing directly in front of the magistrate’s office, located on Klein Street in Walterboro. The suspect is charged with littering, less than 15 pounds. It is unclear what the person tossed.

Trailers from stolen from alongside local road

A Dorchester County man who had a flat tire on his vehicle last week suffered another case of bad luck when he became a crime victim. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the man was driving down Bells Highway near Ruffin on Sept. 19th when a tire on one of the trailers that he was towing went flat. The man left the two trailers alongside the road and returned to his Grover residence in Dorchester County to get a spare tire. When he returned hours later to get his two trailers, both were stolen. One trailer is 16-feet long and another is 18-feet long. Both are valued at $32,000, the report states. This case is under investigation.
