House hit by bullet in drive-by shooting
By HEATHER RUPPE

Walterboro officers are looking for a man who fired shots at a downtown-area house while the homeowner sat inside.
The 52-year-old victim told authorities that he was in his house on August 22nd when he saw a man slowly drive passed his North Lemacks Street residence, toward Robertson Boulevard. That suspect then fired several shots toward the man’s house. At least one bullet struck the man’s house; however, officers found five spent .45-caliber shell casings and one spent 9-mm shell casing scattered around the man’s house and property, a Walterboro Police Department incident report states.
The homeowner’s house was struck with only one bullet and no one was injured.
The homeowner does have a surveillance video system, and officers are pulling that video to see if they can learn more details about the suspect. According to the report, the only information on the suspect is that he was driving a white vehicle. The suspect is wanted for discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

Drugs seized in traffic stop
A deputy doing routine patrol along Sniders Highway spotted a vehicle with an improper tag, and the deputy ultimately arrested the driver for multiple drug violations.
According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the deputy stopped the 2003 black GMC Yukon because its displayed tag was registered to a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the deputy stopped the female driver, the woman said her license was suspended and that she was driving without a license. The woman then gave consent to be searched. The officer found two clear plastic bags containing .39 grams and 5.5 grains of meth and heroin. The person was arrested for possession of heroin and possession of meth. The arrest occurred the Colleton Heights community in Walterboro.

Drunk patron causes scene
Walterboro police officers were called to a local restaurant last week when a patron had too much to drink and began a disturbance. According to a Walterboro Police Department, officers were called to Fat Jacks on Bells Highway when a man was causing a disturbance. The same man had also created a disturbance earlier in the night at another restaurant, the Barrel House Grille, in Walterboro. According to the police report, the 42-year-old Ruffin resident entered Fat Jacks and ordered a beer. When the beer was given to him, the suspect began to yell and curse and use a racial slur, the report states. Officers found the suspect standing outside the restaurant. He admitted to having “several drinks,” and he also began to yell and curse while the officers were talking to him. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Colleton County Detention Center.

Suspicious man spotted in Wal-Mart parking lot
Officers responded to Wal-Mart in Walterboro last week to a report of a suspicious man jiggling car door handles of vehicles in the parking lot. The officer who responded to the scene was told that the man was walking through the parking lot, touching cars and trying to open car doors. The same man was also spotted going into a service truck and taking something from inside the vehicle. He left the scene in a dark color Honda Accord before officers arrived. This is the third time that officers were called to Wal-Mart in Walterboro last week, with the other two times being to suspects trying to steal from inside the store in the self-checkout lanes.
