Church burglars caught after getting stuck in mud

A Colleton County church was burglarized on Sept. 10th. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the pastor of a Peurifoy Road church in Walterboro called 911 and said that someone had notified her that suspects were breaking into the church. When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle stuck in the mud behind the building of the church. A rear window of the church was also shattered. The suspects are a 22-year-old man, a 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman. The pastor was called to the church to do an inventory of what had been stolen, and the suspect’s vehicle as towed.
Each of the suspects will be charged with third-degree burglary.

“Dream” resident returns home and finds property stolen
A resident of “Our Dream Lane” found a nightmare on Sept. 19th when he arrived home and discovered that his shed had been burglarized. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, two unknown men were seen making several trips from his camper/shed with his personal items. Everything from inside his camper/shed had been removed and stolen, the report states. The case is under investigation.

Drugs seized in traffic stop
Deputies found drugs during a recent traffic stop conducted on Augusta Highway near Walterboro. According to a sheriff’s office incident report, deputies stopped a vehicle on Sept. 12th because the driver was displaying a blue light, which is in violation of state law. While speaking to the driver, the deputy states in the report that he could smell marijuana coming from the car. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy discovered a small bag that tested positive for cocaine. The deputy also found several pills, which were identified as hydrocodone, a scheduled two controlled substance. The 53-year-old driver is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of crack cocaine.

Woman gets harassing texts after family member’s funeral
Local law enforcement officers are investigating a case of harassment. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies were notified that a Colleton County woman is receiving harassing texts from a blocked number. The victim told authorities that her mother had just died, and she believes the harassing calls are coming from a family member. Deputies were notified on Sept. 10th, and the case is under investigation.

Case of child assault under investigation
Authorities are investigating a case of aggravated assault, which was reported to them by a child therapist. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the therapist notified local authorities that the child was assaulted by his father in their Walterboro house. This case is active and no other details are available at this time.
