Wal-Mart thief caught after successfully stealing several times

A man wanted by local authorities for being a repeat thief was taken into custody last week.
According to a report filed with the Walterboro Police Department, officers were called to the Wal-Mart store in Walterboro on July 23rd when store employee caught the suspect stealing – again.
The suspect, who is a 43-year-old Summerville man, was caught trying to steal 10 cans of baby formula. The formula is valued at $286.25.
During his arrest, officers also found three grams of marijuana on him, the report states. During his arrest, officers discovered that the man had several outstanding warrants for his arrest, including several prior shoplifting charges from incidents that have happened at the same Wal-Mart store in Walterboro.
The suspect was taken into custody and is charged with being a habitual offender; shoplifting; possession of marijuana; and driving under suspension, second offense or greater, the report states.

Woman arrested for fake assault call
Officers were called to a Bells Highway house on July 21st when a woman called 911 and claimed she was assaulted. However, officers who responded to the scene learned that she had not been assaulted but was instead drunk. According to a Walterboro Police Department report, the woman had not been hurt, as she had claimed in a 911-call. The 51-year-old Walterboro woman was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a meth pipe, the report states. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and open container. She was cited, released and then taken to Colleton Medical Center.

Laundry thief sought
Officers were called to the Coin Laundry Mat on Bells Highway on July 24th to someone trying to break into the store’s safe. According to a Walterboro Police Department incident report, the 22-year-old suspect was caught on camera trying to crack the store’s safe.
The man was not on scene when authorities arrived. He is wanted on charges of safe cracking and possession of burglary tools, the report states.

Man flees after domestic dispute
A Colleton man assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute that occurred on July 10th at a house along Toomers Hills Lane. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, suspect and victim are married. The female victim told authorities that she and her husband were arguing when he put his fist against her mouth, causing her tooth to become loose. The woman told officers that her husband becomes aggressive when he is drinking. The man is also accused of trying to choke his wife and taking her cell phone from her. This suspect had fled the scene before authorities arrived. According to the report, this case is under investigation.
