Green Pond man assaults father with bag of ice

An 18-year-old Colleton man is wanted for an assault that he allegedly committed against his father. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies were called to a residence on Springhill Road in Green Pond on May 12th in reference to an assault. When officers arrived, they met with the victim/complainant, who said his son hit him in the head with a bag of ice and then choked him. The son is also accused of choking his father. The victim had swelling on his face and his “eyes were completely red with blood,” the report states. The suspect is wanted for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Vehicle stolen after owner leaves keys inside
A Colleton man called 911 and reported that someone stole his vehicle from his Walterboro yard. However, the man also said he left his wallet and his keys inside the car, which was left unlocked overnight. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office report, the unknown suspect(s) are wanted for grand larceny.

Bad driver found to have meth
The driver of a Chevy Tahoe was stopped in Round O on May 17th after a deputy saw him cross the center line of the highway several times. When the deputy stopped the driver, however, the man also had no driver’s license and claimed to be test-driving the vehicle for a friend, a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report states. According to that report, the deputy also asked the driver and the passenger if there were any drugs in the vehicle and they said “no.” During a pat down of the driver, the deputy discovered 2.60 grams of meth in his jeans’ pocket. The driver also discovered marijuana in the car, the report states. The 40-year-old man is charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute.

Missing juvenile sought
Law enforcement officers were notified last week of a missing juvenile who was last seen heading toward a photo shoot in Charleston. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the Walterboro parent contacted deputies on May 16th and reported that they last saw they juvenile child on May 14th, when the child was headed to a photo shoot in Charleston. The parent said they multiple attempts to reach their child and had not been able to contact, the report said. The case is listed as a runaway juvenile.

Campers burglarized
Sixteen different pull-behind campers being used as temporary dwellings were burglarized last week. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the campers are located along Augusta Highway in Smoaks. Officers were notified of the burglary incidents on May 15th. As of press deadline, there are no suspects in this case.

Man charged with using motel room that he didn’t rent
On May 11th, deputies were called to the Rhodesway Inn in Walterboro to a reported burglary. When they arrived, deputies found the suspect in Room No. 206: the 20-year-old suspect was not allowed to be in that room because he had not rented it, according to the motel owners.
The suspect admitted to deputies that he was staying in the room without consent or without paying for it, the incident report states.
The man was charged with second-degree burglary and was taken into custody.
