Attempted murder under investigation

Authorities with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an attempted murder. The incident occurred on April 29th at a house on Jennings Court in Walterboro. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a 911-caller said several shots were heard in the area. Deputies who responded ultimately arrested the suspect – Alvin Lee Walling, 26, of Walterboro. Walling is charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder. This case is still under investigation.

False 911-call claims shooting occurred
Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office were called to a Cottageville house on May 2nd to a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman standing on her front steps, who said everything was “okay” at her house. She allowed the deputy to check the home. The suspect who made the false 911 call is a Colleton County man who has a history of making false 911 calls, the report states.
Man threatens to kill neighbor and his family over Trump signs
A Colleton man has threatened to shoot his neighbor and all of his family and animals because the neighbor has Trump flags along his fence. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the suspect, who lives along Bedon Road in Walterboro, called 911 and reported that his neighbor was blasting music from his back yard. While on scene, the deputy stated in his report that he couldn’t hear any music at all. The suspect also threatened to shoot the victim and his entire family because he was tired of looking at Trump flags, which are hanging from the victims’ fence along his personal property. In his threats, the suspect also threatened to shoot and kill all of the victims’ animals, the report states. The victim declined to press charges.
Suspects steal cooler and toss items along street
Officers were called to a Walterboro residence on May 2nd to a report of two suspects taking items from a cooler from the residence, and then throwing items “around, causing a scene.” According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the deputy found the two suspects walking down Jefferies Highway, and made them return the stolen property. The homeowner had both suspects put on trespass notice, meaning they cannot return to the property. No other charges were filed.
Woman claims to be assaulted, video footage proves otherwise
Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office were called to a gas station on Lowcountry Highway near Smoaks on April 30th to a report of a possible assault. When they arrived, deputies found a woman who claimed that the male suspect had “slammed her to the ground and knocked her out.”
The deputy reviewed security footage at the gas station and also spoke with the alleged suspect, who said the woman pushed him first and continued to shove him. He said he only pushed her once to get her off of him, the report states. The deputy determined that the man only pushed the woman in self-defense to “get her off of him,” the report states. No charges were filed.
