Unknown BB-Gun Shooter targets exterminator truck

Law enforcement officers are investigating a claim that someone fired a BB Gun at a Palmetto Exterminators truck, striking the back of the truck while the vehicle was working in Walterboro. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the employee of Palmetto Exterminators was putting trash into the company dumpster when he heard a “loud vehicle exhaust” and then the sound of a BB striking the truck. The complainant saw a black Chevy Tahoe leave the scene. The man saw the left rear tail light of the truck was shot and there was glass on the ground, the report states. The man also found a BB laying on the ground. This case is under investigation.

Drag racers flee

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office were called to an area of Lowcountry Highway on March 19th to a report of possible drag racing happening in the area. When deputies arrived to the area, which was near Sagebrush Road near Smoaks, they found four men sitting in a car that was parked in the middle of the road. When the deputy initiated his blue lights, the driver of the car sped away. The deputy did not chase the car. Several other vehicles were in the area, and they also left the area. No other information is available.

Wanted man runs from cops

While on routine patrol last week, deputies spotted a 60-year-old man who had an active arrest warrant against him. When they tried to stop him, the man jumped into a car “in an attempt to” elude deputy, the report states. Deputies pursued the vehicle until they reached Hudson Mill Road, where the man tried to run into the woods. He was detained, and then struggled with deputies, the report states. The man also discarded a baggie of meth, as well as a one-dollar bill that was folded and contained heroine. He is charged with failure to stop for blue lights.

Teacher abuse claim investigated

Law enforcement officers were called to the Lowcountry Head Start in Walterboro on March 15th to a report of a teacher assaulting a child. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the mother of the child notified the sheriff’s office of the alleged assault. This case is under investigation and no other details are available at this time.
