Woman shot during domestic dispute

A Colleton County woman was struck by two pellets from a shotgun during a domestic dispute that occurred on Sunday, Nov. 28th.
The incident occurred at a house on Head Lane at about 11:45 p.m.
According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue Director Barry McRoy, the woman was struck in the hand and in the leg. Her injuries were not life-threatening. She was treated at the scene and then taken to Colleton Medical Center by ambulance.
The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and searched for the suspect. This case is under investigation.

Car chase leads to drug arrest
A 35-year-old man is charged with multiple counts of drug possession after he ran from officers and created a car chase. The incident occurred on Nov. 23rd near Yemassee, along Interstate 95. Details of the incident are not yet available; however, a deputy attempted to stop the suspect but he fled. The man is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute; driving under suspension, second offense; failure to stop for blue lights, second and subsequent offense; and possession with intent to distribute heroin.

Drugs found on pedestrian
A man found walking in the middle of the road in Colleton County was stopped by a deputy and searched, leading to a drug arrest. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the 32-year-old suspect was spotted walking on Nov. 22nd in the middle of Barracada Road. When the deputy stopped him, dispatch advised the officer that the man was on probation. The deputy then asked to search the suspect, and he consented: during that search, the deputy found .4 grams of drugs on him. The man was arrested for possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of meth, the report states.

Steak stealer
Officers were called to a Walterboro grocery store last week when a man stole steaks. According to a Walterboro Police Department incident report, the 33-year-old Walterboro man went to Walmart and stole three steaks, valued at a total of $ 72. Per surveillance footage, the man walked into the store, took the steaks and then walked out of the store on the pharmacy side. He is a “repeat” offender and will be charged with shoplifting, the report states.

Thief targets funeral home
Walterboro officers are looking for the person who stole from a local funeral home. According to a Walterboro Police Department incident report, the owner of Stephens Funeral Home in Walterboro reported that someone stole the catalytic converter off of his 2005 Cadillac Hearse. The theft from the hearse occurred after Nov. 12th. The case is under investigation.

Repeat offender helps himself to beer
Officers were called to the BP Gas Station near McDonald’s on Sniders Highway on Nov. 17th when a man walked into the store, got a beer, sat down on the floor, popped it open and began drinking it. According to a Walterboro Police Department report, the 24-year-old man is already on trespass notice from the store, meaning he is not allowed to be there. When officers arrived, they found the man sitting on the floor. When they asked him to step outside, he said that someone pointed a gun at him at the store. There was no video surveillance of the incident. However, while speaking to officers, the suspect began shouting racial slurs at the police officers and refused to stop, the report states. He was arrested for trespassing and shoplifting. The cost of the beer that he drank was $2.60, the report states.
