Two shot
on King Street
Two people were reported shot on King Street on Nov. 6. The two were transported to Colleton Medical Center by private vehicle.
Neither received life-threatening injuries.
Broken down truck vandalized
A driver’s Chevy pickup broke down on Tuskegee Airmen Drive on Nov. 7 while the victim was on his way to work. He contacted his insurance company to have the truck towed and got a ride to work.
However, someone broke the front headlines, taillights and mirrors, flattened all four tires, and broke the driver’s side windows, windshield and passenger side window.
Shots fired
from car
Residents of Bailey Farm Road reported a suspect fired about 17 shots straight up in the air from a rifle out of the window of a sedan on Nov. 8. Witnesses did not perceive the action as a threat.
Fleeing suspect caught
Walterboro canine officer Hydro tracked down a suspect who fled from officers on Hamwalk Lane, Cottageville, on Nov. 7.
The suspect fled on foot after a vehicle pursuit by Cottageville officers. Hydro almost immediately found a pair of red shoes, then a bare footprint in the mud. After crossing the road on Hamwalk Lane, he showed interest in a shed, then headed toward Depot Road, where the suspect was found.
He was arrested.
Home broken into
A Poplar Street resident was awakened Nov. 7 after hearing a noise inside her home. Upon investigating, the resident heard the front door close and a person in a dark hoodie jump the front fence and run down the street.
Nothing seemed to be missing but items were misplaced and thrown on the floor.
Shots reported
on Drain Road
Colleton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fight involving multiple suspects and possibly gunfire on Drain Road in Smoaks on Nov. 5.
The complainants said the people arrived at the home to engage in a physical altercation, which involved all parties just off the roadway in their driveway. After the fight, the complainants said they heard possibly four shots from a handgun. The group then fled in two vehicles.
Deputies located the suspects who admitted to the fight but said there was no gun involved. Both vehicles were searched and no gun was found; however a deputy did find two shell casings in the road at the scene.
Five catalytic
converters taken
A Barracada Road resident reported Nov. 5 that five vehicles in his yard were missing catalytic converters.
Bone on the beach
A person called Edisto Beach Police after finding a bone on the beach near Jeremy Inland on Nov. 4. Colleton County deputies contacted the Colleton County Coroner’s Office and a coroner confirmed the bone appeared to be a from a deer.
Door shattered
Walterboro police responded to a Bells Highway gas station after an alarm. Officers arriving saw the front door had been shattered by a large rock.
Cigarettes and lottery tickets were taken. The suspect also left a pair of sock on the floor behind the cash register.
