Man assaults customer

A customer was reportedly assaulted in a business on Jefferies Boulevard on Oct. 23.

Camera surveillance showed the assailant coming into the store, backing the victim into an area and shoving him with both hands. The victim said he had no way to escape, so he pushed back. The assailant then allegedly grabbed the victim and struck him multiple times with a closed fist.

A standing lamp and a bed frame were both broken in the incident.

The victim was transported by Fire-Rescue to Colleton Medical Center.

Items taken from storage shed

A resident of Sudbury Road, Round O, reported on October 20 a suspect entered his property about 9:30 a.m. Then about 1:30 p.m. three suspects entered the property and broke the lock off the door of a storage building.

Reported missing were a Generac 8500 watt generator, Craftsman compact air compressor, two gas jugs with fuel, two fishing poles, a Bostich nail gun, a Husquvarna weedeater and a Covert cellular game camera. The items were valued at $2,370.

Camper reported taken

A resident of Davis Circle, Walterboro, reported someone took a camper from his residence on Oct. 22.

80 mph on Bells Highway

A Walterboro police officer observed several vehicles heading into town on Bells Highway at a high rate of speed on Oct. 25. The officer caught up to the three vehicles in the sharp curve at Eddie Chasteen Drive to find a dark gray Mazda had run off the road and into the trees.

The driver said he was not injured, but was in a hurry to get home after work. He was given a ticket for reckless driving.

Power pole accosted

A utility pole at Wichman and Savage streets was broken in half and left blocking the roadway on Oct. 25. Walterboro police determined that the pole was struck by a black Acura, due to the broken car pieces — including the front bumper — surrounding the pole.

Mailboxes assaulted

A man in his back yard on Pineland Road on Oct. 24 heard a loud crash. Upon investigating, he found the four mailboxes and the two posts that held them had been destroyed. He told responding Walterboro police officers that he saw a dark Chevy/GMC truck in the vicinity prior to the incident.

Shots fired into home

A resident on Sidneys Road reported Oct. 26 someone shot into their home.

The home was struck several times, but no one was injured.
