Man arrested

James Ferguson Jr., 47, was arrested Jan. 4, charged with motor theft, second-degree criminal domestic violence and stronged armed robbery after an incident on Springwood Drive. Walterboro police said they arrived to find an upset woman who told them she had just broken up with Ferguson in December after a relationship. He reportedly came to the incident location where she was taking care of a physically disabled person. The woman told officers he pinned her up against the stove, causing her to hit the back of her head against the cabinet, and took her car keys from her pocket. When she tried to retrieve the keys, he allegedly struck her in the eye with his fist. He reportedly left in the victim’s 2012 blue Dodge Charger, estimated worth $10,000, and left. The car contained the victim’s personal items including her cell phone, cards, house keys, etc. The woman was transported to Colleton Medical Center.

Woman, monkeys asked to leave

Walterboro Police officers were called to Verizon on Jan. 4 after an elderly woman refused to leave the store. Officers found the woman and her three monkeys. The situation was resolved and everyone left.
