Incooperative person
Deputies responded to Lottie Lane, Green Pond, on April 25 after a suspect’s grandfather reported he felt the man was a danger to himself and others.
The suspect initially fled the scene, after being locked out of the house. However, he returned, walking toward the porch and ignoring the deputy’s commands to stop.
The suspect allegedly had his right hand in his pocket while talking on his phone and ignored the deputy’s instructions to stop. The suspect finally got on his knees and his hands on his head, after the deputy pulled out his taser. But, the deputy reported, when he tried to handcuff him, the suspect attempted to get away. After a struggle, the deputy got the suspect handcuffed.
But the man then refused to get in the deputy’s patrol car, the report said. The deputy “dynamically assisted” the man to the ground to regain control, gave numerous commands to get in the car and ended pulling out his taser again before the suspect complied.
The suspect was charged with third-degree assault and battery.

Burglary
in Smoaks
On Sunday April 26 deputies responded to a burglar alarm at a business in Smoaks.
The store owner replayed video surveillance which showed two black males approached the store walking from New St. Both males appeared to be between 5’8” to 6’1” in height and appeared to weigh 185-200 pounds. One male was wearing a dark blue hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes with multiple colors around rubber sole. The other male was wearing a white hoodie, black pants, and white/black shoes.
The male with the blue hoodie reportedly used a hammer to break the front door’s glass, using so much force that he swung the hammer through the glass, losing it through the door. When this occurred, the male in the white hoodie fled back across the roadway.
The male in the blue allegedly reached into the hole in the glass and unlocked the two door locks to the front door. The video showed that the male was using his sleeve to unlock and to grab the door.
Once opened, he motioned for the other male in white to come back to the store.
Upon entering the store, the male in blue retrieved the hammer and the male in white pulled a back pack from underneath his shirt and placed it on the counter. Both males stayed inside the store for a few seconds and then fled with haste. It appeared as they didn’t take anything.
But they did leave the backpack behind. The investigation continues.
