Man found lying in road
Walterboro police found a man lying in the road at the intersection of North Lemacks and Chaplin streets on Feb. 15.
The man told officers he was having severe chest and stomach pains. An ambulance was called.
The man then told officers he had smoked crack at a house near where he was found. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center.
Truck mows
down trees
A dark blue or black Chevy or GMC 4x4 truck with a brush guard reportedly mowed down two trees in the median on South Jefferies Boulevard on Feb. 15. A witness reported the truck was traveling north when it pulled left and ran over the trees before pulling into the car wash.
Dumpster set on fire
A man reported on Feb. 16 he found the dumpster at Forest Pointe Apartments on fire.
He told Walterboro police officers that he put out that fire, but then found a trash bag on fire, which he also extinguished. He told officers he smelled gasoline at the fire scenes.
Surveillance footage is being awaited.

An Augusta Highway, Round O, woman reported an unknown male jacked up a Honda in her front yard and took a part from the vehicle.
A neighbor said he saw a white male who appeared to be removing the front tire of the vehicle. After talking to the man, the neighbor returned to collecting wood. He also said he saw an olive green van with a flat tire next to the road.
The woman showed deputies a video showing a white man with a black and white ball cap with white lettering, blue jeans, brown boots, a brown jacket and gray gloves with red strips at the wrists.
Shots fired
in dispute
A man said Feb. 14 he was driving on Jefferies Highway when another vehicle began following him closely. As he slowed to turn left, the other driver ran into the rear of his vehicle.
Everyone got out of their vehicles and the suspect began complaining about the headlights and said the victim’s truck “had the Carolina Squat.” The suspect then allegedly fired one round into the air and two shots in the victim’s front right tire.
No one was injured. The suspect was described as a white male, 35-45, with brown hair and facial hair, about 5’8” and 180 pounds. The suspect vehicle was a white F150 extended bed pickup.
Guns gone
from Charleston Highway
A Charleston Highway man reported that between Feb. 15-16, someone pried open the victim’s gun cabinet and took seven long guns and two pistols. Missing are a Marlin 30/30 lever action rifle, a H&R single-shot 12-gauge shotgun, H&R single-shot breakdown 40/6, Montgomery Ward 22 bolt action rifle, Savage 17 caliber HMR rifle, H&G 32 magnum revolver, H&R 22 revolver, H&R 410 shotgun and Marlin 22LR semi-rifle. Total value was estimated at $3,500.
Chase on Beavers Pass Road
On Feb. 16 a deputy attempted to stop a black 2007 BMW in the 200 block of Beavers Pass. The deputy said his radar indicated the car was traveling 87 mph and accelerating.
The pursuit went down Beavers Pass Road at 110 mph, then the car turned onto Sunrise Road, then Johnsville Road. Speed increased to 120 mph.
After a turn onto Sizemore Road, the vehicle came to a dead-end on Hopewell Lane. Three suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. However, one dropped a cell phone.
Warrants are being obtained.
