Pointing a firearm
A resident of Heavens Hill Court in Ridgeville reported an assault on Feb. 5.
A man told deputies he was changing the light on his friend’s vehicle when he heard a scream. When he entered the home, his friend was on the floor with the suspect standing over her. When he confronted the man, the suspect grabbed a .9mm handgun and pointed at him. The two went outside, where the suspect shot the gun several times.
The woman said she had gotten into a dispute with the suspect’s girlfriend and her son got upset.
The charges could be assault and battery, third degree, and point and presenting a firearm at a person if they decided to pursue charges.

Weapon
at Forest Hills
Deputies responded Feb. 6 about 1 p.m. to a report of unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. The investigation is continuing and no further information is available.

Phone scam
A Walterboro woman reported Feb. 5 she got a call on her cell phone claiming to be an officer for Social Security. The offender said he had a warrant for her arrest for opening fraudulent accounts unless she put money into an Ebay gift card and sent it to him digitally. She did.
The woman said the caller, who had a foreign accent, knew her name, address, the last four digits of her Social Security card. The phone numbers used were 803-251-9381 and 803-872-54995 (Not a typo. Call log showed five final digits.)

Car shooting
On Feb. 7 victims said after an altercation in the parking lot at Barrel House, they left and were in the area of Heritage Trust Bank when the offender drove up from behind, passed their car and began to shoot at their vehicle. The victim slammed on brakes, made a u-turn and drove away.
Walterboro police didn’t find any evidence at the scene, but did view damage to the victim’s car.

Reported stolen
• 14000 Cottageville Hwy., Ridgeville, Feb. 5: a bronze-colored Caldwell pivot rifle pod and fold-up camo stool.
• 1209 Hampton St., Feb. 4: Surveillance camera showed a man enter the bathroom, climb into the storage area through the ceiling, put on gloves and spray contents of a spray bottle at the camera. Missing were a few dollars in loose change and a jacket.
