Babies and drugs
A Dept. of Social Services employee called city police officers to Colleton Medical Center on June 16.
Reportedly, a set of twin boys tested positive for methamphetamine. The mother of the twins allegedly admitted to using drugs four days before the babies were born.
Shots fired
into home
A resident on Pynes Community Road in Green Pond reported June 17 that someone fired shots into the family’s home.
The responding deputy found evidence of two bullets that hit the home and one that hit the victim’s vehicle. The home was occupied by a couple and their 11-year-old daughter.
He also collected about 12 shell casings from a 9mm Luger in the grass beside the road, as well as one bullet.
Man burns
recliner
An Oleander Court resident returned home on June 19 to discover a recliner outside his fence had been burned.
The victim told a responding deputy that his neighbor put the recliner outside the fence, telling him he was going to take it to the dump. However, when the victim viewed his camera surveillance, the camera showed the neighbor dousing the recliner with gasoline and setting it on fire.
The neighbor said he didn’t remember being drunk. Deputies reminded him he was caught on camera.
Four-wheeler taken
A Peirce Road man reported to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office that his $14,000 2019 Outlander XMR four-wheeler was taken .
He said he was riding the four-wheeler on June 21 about 3 a.m. on Peirce Road when it broke down. Since he had let a friend borrow his trailer, he caught a ride home with an unknown man in a F150. He left the four-wheeler on the road and decided to go retrieve it in the morning. However, when he returned with a trailer, the four-wheeler was gone.
A naked man walking
Colleton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a naked white man walking on Pratt Lane.
The man was found, but no further information was given.
Man flees
to Walterboro
Colleton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person on Risher Mountain Road.
The suspect said people were trying to kill him, so he fled from Savannah to Walterboro, got off at I-95 exit 62, left his car and ran through the woods until he found someone to call the police.
However, a check of his criminal record showed he was wanted in Georgia on drug charges. So he was taken to go to the Colleton County Detention Center to wait for extradition.
Stolen gun found
A man bushhogging on Sniders Highway reported finding a gun on June 22. He said the tractor’s bushhog ran over the handgun and threw it into the road. He moved it next to a fencepost until deputies arrived.
The EAA Corp. Witness P semi-automatic had been reported stolen by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
