BAMBERG – Mrs. Gracie Doris O’Quinn Crider, 99, of Bamberg, entered into rest Saturday morning, January 25, 2025, at Magnolias in Walterboro. She was the loving wife of the late Mr. J. W. “Duck” Crider, Sr, whom she married in 1955. Born October 15, 1925, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Gary O’Quinn and the late Lillian Fender O’Quinn. Doris was mainly a homemaker during her married years, but she was employed prior to that time at Simms Toggery in Walterboro and had worked as a textile plant examiner in Erie, Pennsylvania and Walterboro. After making her home in Bamberg, Doris worked at both the Red-N-White and Cyanamide Textile and sold Avon. Surviving are: her son, Johnny Crider (Debbie) of Bamberg; her daughter, Anne Crider Bacon (Terry) of Edisto Island; a sister, Ena O’Quinn Reed of Walterboro; five grandchildren, Tammie Eubanks Jones (Marshall), Joey Eubanks (Kristen), Ashleigh Crider Wolfe (Justan), Wesley Crider (Griffin), and Kendall Bacon Johns (Allie). In addition, there are nine great- grandchildren, Parker, Joseph, Riley, Evan, Elliott, Mattie, Jacob, Holcomb, and Banks. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Quillie O’Quinn, Vernon O’Quinn, and Herbert O’Quinn; and by a sister, Willie Mae Smoak. She grew up in Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro and eventually moved her membership to Spring Branch Baptist Church, where she served as the Women’s Missionary Union Director, Girls in Action Leader, Sunday School and Training Union Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Director. She was always involved with her church missions and families.  Doris will always be remembered as a caring and compassionate, someone who loved assisting others, helping at the family farm as needed, serving God, and being the caretaker for family and friends. Without a doubt, she cherished the beloved visits with her grandchildren. She’s been given her heavenly wings to walk “those streets of gold “ alongside those who have gone before her.  The family has requested that memorials be directed to the following: Spring Branch Baptist Church, 833 Deacon Road, Bamberg, South Carolina 29003 or to, Edisto Hospice, 301 North Lucas Street, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
