The Colleton Prep Wrestling team was well represented by the three dedicated wrestlers who traveled to Cardinal Newman Saturday Feb. 15 to participate in the SCISA Individual State Duals. Nathaniel Blubaugh (120), Gavin Padgett (126) and Francis Blubaugh (132) competed in the day-long event that was comprised of 10 member schools.

Although none of the Colleton Prep wrestlers earned a win Saturday, the experience earned was priceless according to Coach Packy Burke.

“This was a phenomenal opportunity for the wrestlers to gain experience for next season,” said Burke. “Francis is our only senior we are losing next year. Overall, they really wrestled well and paved the way for the next season with their experience. I have really enjoyed coaching them this year. It is a long process, but my stress and anxiety level are almost non-existent compared to public school.”

Burke’s wrestling season may be over, but he begins coaching middle school and junior varsity soccer for the War Hawks this week.
