CPA Softball in position to clinch regional title

The Colleton Prep War Hawk softball team entered spring break with a 7-4 overall record, and 2-0 in region play. The final three games before spring break saw the Hawks win two of three games.

While they lost to Orangeburg-Prep, 12-0, they rebounded, defeating Bamberg-Ehrhardt, 11-2, and besting Cross, 21-1.

Coach Tiger Martin described the win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt as “…one of the best games of the year that we have played. “

The Lady Hawks were paced at bat with three home runs, while Sidney Stivender fanned four batters in four innings, allowing just one run.

CPA pounded out 17 hits in their lopsided win over Cross. Addison Crosby led all batters with four hits. On the mound, Becca Martin allowed one hit pitching a complete game to earn the win.

For the season, Addison Crosby leads the Hawks offensively with a .517 batting average with 16 RBIs. Lana Catterton is batting .414, followed by Becca Martin (.346), Linley Jones (.344), Sidney Bailey (.373), and Ava Murray (.303).

Jones leads the Hawks in home runs with three, while driving in 12 runs.

Sidney Stivender leads the pitching staff with a 5-4 record, while Becca Martin is undefeated on the mound at 2-0.

The War Hawks can clinch the region title if they defeat Cross in a game scheduled April 20.
