Any lingering effects the Warhawks might have had from their loss last week to Beaufort were quickly put to rest with a convincing 49-12 win over Palmetto Christian Academy on senior night.

The Warhawks set the tone of the game early, scoring on the first play of the night when Caleb Davis went 60 yards for a touchdown with 11:49 left in the first quarter. Connor Nettles added the point after the touchdown to lead 7-0. The Eagles answered on a 7-play 80-yard touchdown drive ending in a 22-yard touchdown pass to make the score 6-0 with 5:25 left in the first quarter.

The Eagles successfully executed an onside kick-off to recover the ball at the Warhawks’ 46-yard line. The Warhawks forced a punt and got a courtesy touchdown when the ball was snapped over the punter’s head into the end zone where Noah Catterton fell on the ball for a touchdown, making the score 15-6 after converting a two point rushing play with 3:31 left in the first quarter.

The Warhawks got a 23-yard touchdown run from Caleb Davis with 1:01 left in the first quarter for a 21-6 lead. The Warhawks added two more touchdowns in the first half with a 19-yard touchdown run from Caleb Davis (his third of the night) and a Dean Rushton score on a 25-yard fumble recovery to make the score 35-6 at half-time.

Any hopes the Eagles had of making a comeback were quickly put to rest as CPA scored on a two-yard touchdown run by Hayden Williams set-up by a 65-yard pass completion from Cole Davis to Caden Crosby That combination worked again a few minutes later, as they connected on 44-yard touchdown pass to make the score 49-6.

The Eagles added a touchdown with 4:20 left in the game to make the final score 49-12.

CPA finished the night with 393 yards of total offense compared to PCA’s 265 yards. Caleb Davis rushed for 129 yards on 10 carries including three touchdowns. Caden Crosby caught two passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. Hayden Williams, Will Rushton and Noah Catterton each added a touchdown.

The CPA Middle school team defeated Orangeburg Prep 44-16 to finish the season with a 9-1 record.
