Colleton Prep Academy’s girls’ tennis team won their region, defeating Beaufort Academy twice to take the championship.
The Warhawks finished with a record of 5-6, although the record may be deceiving- a lot of the losses came against 4-A schools according to head coach, Ladson Fishburne.
“Obviously a great year for our team, especially since we did not make the playoff’s last year. We were not surprised with the outcome of the season this year-in fact we kind of expected to have this type of year,” Fishburne relayed. “The good news is that we will have a great group returning for next year.”
Members of the tennis team include Marie Molinari, Makayla Odum, Mackenize Pellum, Anne Hatcher White, senior Kaylee Spears, senior Gracie Bishop, Sidney Baile, and Becca Martin.
The Warhawks are scheduled to play Lee Academy for the 2-A State Championship match at the Sumter Tennis Complex on Wednesday October 12th.
