To say it was a rough week for the War Hawk baseball team would be an understatement. They would drop games to Hilton Head Academy 13-2, Calhoun Academy 14-3 and to Dorchester Academy 12-11. With the three loses the War Hawk record stands at 1-3 on the young season.

Against Hilton Head, CPA would actually lead take a 2-0 lead only to see Hilton Head score 13 unanswered runs to win the game. The War Hawks were led offensively by Brice Kinard with 2 hits and Cole Davis and Dustin Hadwin each contributing a hit.

Against Calhoun Academy, the War Hawks would issue 14 walks and had 3 errors defensively, to contribute to the lop-sided win. CPA would trail 6-3 through 5 innings; however, Calhoun would score three runs in the sixth inning and 5 runs in the seventh inning for the win. The Hawks were limited to six hits in the game with Braeden Hicks, Britton Phillips, Hayden Williams, Cole Davis, Wylan Sheffield and Brice Kinard each contributing a hit.

Against Dorchester Academy, the Hawks committed eight costly errors which contributed to Dorchester scoring 12 runs. Despite all the mistakes, CPA remarkably had a two run lead heading into the top of the seventh inning only to see Dorchester score 3 runs to rally for the win.

“We did not play good baseball this week. We gave up 27 walks, 11 errors while only striking out nine during this same week. We have to be better prepared mentally if we are to have a successful season. We will get back to work and try to correct the things we are not doing well, I expect to have a better upcoming week, “said Head Coach Josh Craven.
