RUFFIN – Mr. Kenneth Ray Covington, 83, of Ruffin, entered into rest Friday morning, May 9, 2025, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Born October 4, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Covington and the late Francis Marion Covington. He was the founder of Covington Floor Covering, a company he started in the early 1960’s that became a well-known business throughout the Lowcountry of South Carolina. He was excellent at his work and took great pride in his trade, which he proudly taught to countless folks over the years. He was a Master Mason and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid outdoorsman, who dearly loved hunting, especially coon hunting with his constant sidekick and best buddy, Mikey. Kenneth will always be remembered for his work ethic, telling a good joke, and the love he had for his home and land, where he resided for forty-eight years. Surviving are: his wife of sixty-five years, Mrs. Peggy Reeves Covington; six children, Toby Covington (Anita) of Ruffin, Dean Covington (Michelle) of Walterboro, Michael Covington (Donna) of Walterboro, Robin Kinard of Smoaks, Timmy Covington (Edie) of Ruffin, and Jo Jo Covington of Smoaks; a special nephew, Marty Iler (Patty); two sisters, Cathy Dolly and Easter Parrish; twenty grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; as well as his faithful K9 companion, Max. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Herbert Covington, Iris Iler, Francis Siebert, and Vernelle Benton.
