By HEATHER WALTERS All South Carolina residents age 16 and over can now receive their COVID-19 vaccination. As a part of the state’s plan to vaccinate South Carolina residents, a four-phase implementation plan was created in 2020. The Palmetto State is now in its fourth, and final, part of that plan, which allows all residents over the age of 16 to get vaccinated. According to Meagan Utsey, public information officer for Colleton County, the following vaccination clinics are planned for Colleton County residents: Palmetto Palace Vaccination Clinic at Neyles Community Center, located at 445 Featherbed Road in Walterboro, on May 22 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; CVS, located at 555 Robertson Blvd. in Walterboro. This clinic is ongoing and residents can schedule vaccinations via the CVS Web site; Lowcountry Urgent Care, located at 1515 Bells Highway in Walterboro, is providing vaccines to Colleton residents who call 843-538-6240; Walterboro Family Care, located at 457 Spruce St. in Walterboro, is offering vaccines to those who call and scheduled an appointment by calling 843-781-7428.; Walmart, located at 2110 Bells Highway in Walterboro, is offering vaccines to those who register online at https://www.walmart.com/cp/1228302. There is also a federally-supported statewide COVID-19 vaccination site for all South Carolina residents. This vaccination site is located at the Columbia Place Mall, located at 7201 Two Notch Rd. in Columbia. At this site, state officials will be providing 7,000 doses per week until mid-June, said Utsey. Colleton residents can register for this vaccination clinic by going to https://register.vams.cdc.gov/?jurisdiction=SC. COVID-19 UPDATE Statewide, there have been 569,279 positive COVID-19 cases in South Carolina . There have been 9,336 deaths statewide. In Colleton County, there have been 2,587 confirmed cases of COVID-19. From these cases, there have been 106 confirmed deaths related to COVID-19, according to information provided by Utsey.
