Edisto Beach changes
The Town of Edisto Beach town council fine-tuned its emergency ordinance on Thursday April 2.
The town council strongly urges individuals to stay in their homes and not travel through or congregate in streets, sidewalks, waterways and/or public spaces in the town.

Businesses
All physical businesses, except those considered essential by the CDC, cannot allow patrons indoors or to shop on the premises. Employees may still come to work with a pass, determined appropriate by the police chief after confirming work status with their employer.

Business may continue to serve customers virtually, by delivery or at a service window.
The grocery store and gas station are deemed essential by the CDC and may continue to allow customers inside. Restaurants may continue with take-out and delivery services.
Private boat charters are not allowed.

Access to town
The checkpoint will be operational 24-hours until further notice.
No one who is not a resident or property owner in the town is prohibited from entering until April 30 unless otherwise authorized in the ordinance.
Edisto Island residents may continue to access the grocery store, gas station and restaurants with proof of island residency.
Guest passes are not permitted.

Penalties
Any violation of the emergency ordinance will be deemed a misdemeanor with each day constituting a separate offense. Businesses also could be subject to losing their business license.
