A Ruffin man was given a five-year prison term after he pled to a first-degree domestic violence charge in Colleton County General Sessions Court on Dec. 18. After Leland J. Thomas, 65, of Ruffin entered a guilty plea on the charge, visiting Circuit Court Judge Brooks Goldsmith ordered the prison stay, giving the man credit for time already spent in custody awaiting his court appearance. In a Dec. 8, 2018 incident, Thomas was charged with striking a victim repeatedly in the head, causing swelling, bruising and bleeding in an orbital socket, jaw and other parts of her head. He also was charged with presenting a firearm during the incident. 

A Green Pond man was ordered to spend three years in prison when he appeared on a first-degree domestic violence charge. Baron S. Smith, 34, was initially scheduled to have a trial on the charge but offered a last minute guilty plea. After hearing Smith’s plea, Judge Goldsmith ordered him to serve three years of a five-year prison term and then spend two years on probation. Smith was charged with domestic violence on Dec. 1, 2017 after he had allegedly repeatedly beat a woman with a metal broom handle until it broke and then stabbed the woman in the right leg with the handle’s jagged end. He also allegedly attempted to gouge out the woman’s right eye.  Stephanie D. Wolfe, 38, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of receiving stolen goods, was ordered to serve one year of a two-year prison term and then spend three years on probation. 

Charles K. Stanfill Jr., 19, of Round O, pled to charges of grand larceny and possession of methamphetamine. He was ordered to serve 18 months of a four-year prison term and then spend three years on probation on the grand larcency charge. He had been charged with taking a four-wheeler worth $2,500 from a Kronman Court residence on July 23. Stanfill was sentenced to time served on the possession charge. 

Daryl R. Risher, 50, of Smoaks, pled to a charge of failure to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to nine months in prison, the time to be served concurrently with a probation violation. 

Donald W. Flood, 31, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of second-degree burglary, was given a suspended five-year prison term and was placed on probation for five years.  Brandon J. Baird Kruger, 26, of Akron, Ohio, pled to a charge of financial transaction card fraud, was given a suspended four-year prison term and placed on probation for four years. 

Joseph E. Dejesus, 29, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of failure to stop for blue lights, was given a suspended three-year prison term and placed on probation for three years. 

Douglas Collins Jr., 25, of Varnville, pled to charges of child endangerment and failure to stop for blue lights. Collins was given a suspended two-year prison term and 30 months’ probation on the blue light charge and a suspended 18-month prison term and 30 months’ probation on the child endangering charge. 

Wadell Williams, 27, of Barnwell, pled to a charge of second-degree domestic violence, was given an 18-month suspended sentence and placed on probation for one year. 

Kimber Cements, 32, of Round O, pled to a charge of possession of cocaine, was given a suspended 90-day jail term and place on probation for nine months. 

Harvey D. Buckner, 24, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of illegal possession of prescription medication, was given a suspended 90-day jail term and placed on probation for nine months. 

Anmad Brown, 31, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of unlawful carrying of a pistol and was ordered to pay a $500 and costs fine or spend 30 days in jail. 

William Yocum, 59, of Cottageville, pled to a charge of possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to time served.  Angelica M. Thomas, 31, of Winnsboro, pled to a charge of trespassing and was sentenced to time served. 

Satradon Pedro, 30, of Ruffin pled to a charge of second-degree assault and battery and was sentenced to time served. 

John E. Cox, 73, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of financial transaction card fraud and was sentenced to time served. 

Joseph A. Mack Sr., 52, of Walterboro, pled to a charge of habitual traffic offender and was sentenced to time served.
